Belt, 19th century, Russia . Geometric ornaments; reversible kontusz belt for Polish men's costume. The belt ends: one 111 cm long, the other 69–70 cm long, are checkered with stripes in red, gold, straw, and light olive. The middle of the belt has longitudinal stripes in red and gold. A long silk fringe is sewn on, decorated with a sewn-on selvedge at the point of attachment. Clothing accessory; length 412 cm, width 41.5 cm., A pair of long woven textile panels with vertical stripe patterns and fringed ends, shown side by side against a pale background; the fabric displays alternating red and yellow stripes that form a denser checked area on one panel, with the woven threads creating subtle variations in tone; the lower edges end in tangled fringe in mixed colors including red, yellow, and green, and each panel has a narrow selvage with darker edging.
