Chasuble, liturgical vestment, 18th century, France. Division into columns with sewn-on silver braid; edges trimmed with the same braid. Features flowers and plant ornaments; used as church paraments/sacred art for churches and chapels. Length 101 cm, width 63 cm back., An elongated fabric garment laid flat, with a rounded lower edge and a narrow upper neck opening, showing a central panel bordered by vertical and horizontal bands; the fabric appears worn and has a textured brocade pattern visible in places. The visible colors include shades of beige, tan, gold, and light cream, with the central panel slightly darker and more golden than the surrounding tan fabric. The bordering bands are a lighter cream color with frayed edges, and there are areas of subtle sheen and irregular wrinkles across the material. The garment edges show some wear and loose threads, and the surface displays small patched or faded spots where the pattern is less distinct.
