Back of a chasuble. Fragment of red amaranth satin fabric, embroidered; originally likely intended for the back of the chasuble as suggested by the fabric shape. Embroidery pattern imitates wide lace with a floral ornament distributed in two semicircular and one meandering stripe. Between the lace stripes are tall, curved branches with bird cherry flowers. Embroidery worked in silk yarn using split stitch, satin stitch, laid stitch, cord, and knots. 18th century, possibly Poland/ Germany/ France. Liturgical vestment.
