Lace fragment, Plant ornaments; pattern of stylized leaves and flowers, serrated on one side. Background fond de gaze. 2nd half of the 19th century, Brussels. Lace; width 11 cm, length 147 cm., A horizontal strip of lace with an intricate floral and leafy pattern laid flat on a gray background; the lace is off-white or cream in color and features repeating scalloped upper edges with large stylized flowers and pointed leaves, detailed openwork netting filling spaces between motifs, and denser embroidered outlines that create textured petals and foliage. Along the lower edge the lace has a band of rectangular openwork and a narrow embroidered border. A small round tag and a rectangular cloth tag attached by a thin string rest on the gray surface near one end of the lace; the visible colors are cream, gray, and a small area of muted brown on the rectangular tag.
