Rose flowers between the leaves, and sprigs of other small flowers above them. Background fond de gaze. 2nd half of the 19th century, Brussels. Lace; width 8.5 cm, length 127 cm., A horizontal strip of delicate lace in off-white and cream tones stretches across a muted gray background, featuring an intricate repeating floral and ornamental pattern with scalloped lower edge; the lace shows a mesh-like netting filled with embroidered flowers, leaves, and ornamental medallions, with several larger floral rosettes and a few ornate vertical motifs that rise from the scallops, connected by swirling embroidered lines and tiny circular details, and the top edge has a narrow woven band in the same cream color.
