Rose flowers between the leaves, and sprigs of other small flowers above them. Background fond de gaze. 2nd half of the 19th century, Brussels; lace; width 8.5 cm, length 127 cm., A horizontal band of delicate lacework with an ornate repeating floral and scroll pattern, displayed against a muted gray background. The lace is a pale cream color and features a scalloped lower edge with a few large circular floral motifs, several fan-shaped leaf elements, and a group of smaller flowers and leaves woven into a fine net ground. The upper edge has a narrow openwork border with a rectangular mesh. The overall texture appears intricate and raised in places, showing loops, cords, and denser embroidered areas contrasting with the sheer net. The visible colors are cream and gray.
