Fragment of lace, lace, ornament: continuous vertical twigs at the top with points between them; at the bottom a strip of edge ornament where plant and geometric tendrils intertwine. Late 18th century, possibly Germany or France. Fabric lace, width 9.5 cm, length 67 cm., A horizontal strip of lace in an off-white or cream color stretches across a gray background, featuring a scalloped top edge with a row of small circular openings and an ornate looping embroidered border beneath; below that are several vertical braided or beaded-looking embroidered columns ending in tiny leaf-like motifs, set against a fine netted ground sprinkled with a few small raised circular dots and delicate embroidered clusters, with the lower edge of the lace slightly scalloped and uneven.
