Chasuble, liturgical vestment decorated with flowers, leaves, and plant ornaments; church paraments, sacred art. Chasuble of Genoese velvet, patterned, convex, with a regularly repeating motif of a stylized bouquet of flowers in vases enclosed in a thick heart-shaped net; mesh fastened with palmettes. Colors: sapphire blue ornament on cream-gold background; columns of solid material in gold-beige. Ornamentation on fabric is not fully legible due to large defects. Made of stylized plant forms. 15th/16th century; possibly Italy or France, sides: Genoa. Length 122 cm, width 64 cm back., An object resembling a shaped textile panel lies flat against a pale background; it has a rounded lower body with a narrower rectangular top and is made from patterned fabric with a central vertical strip in a muted gold color flanked by two wider blue panels featuring an ornate repeating floral and scroll motif, with areas of lighter worn patches on both the gold and blue fabrics; the top edge includes a band of the same muted gold fabric and the seams are finished with a decorative narrow trim in a similar gold tone, showing an overall color palette of blue, gold, cream, and off-white.
