Chasuble, 17th century, Poland. Liturgical vestment, length 95 cm, width 60 cm back. Cotton lining. Trimmed with period white lace. Predominant colors: white for the columns, red for the sides, and yellow, pink, blue, and white for the ornament. Decoration: columns with plant ornaments — at the back, at the top in an oval embroidered kneeling St. Anthony Anthony of Padua, 1195–1231, below branches of apple blossoms and fruit; at the front, branches with apple blossoms and fruit. Sides: ornament with stylized plant twigs. Iconography: Anthony of Padua; function: church paraments / sacred liturgical vestment., An ornate textile panel with a central cream-colored vertical band framed by a decorative lace trim, flanked by wide red panels patterned with pale floral and scroll embroidery; the cream band features embroidered flowering branches with pink, yellow, blue, and green floral motifs and a circular embroidered medallion near the top showing a figure in brown robes against a blue and tan background; the piece overall shows cream lace edging, red velvet-like side panels, and multicolored embroidered flowers and leaves on a pale cream vertical stripe.
