Back of a chasuble, creator unknown, origin France, 2nd half of the 18th century. Grosgrain chasuble with plant tendril ornament arranged in vertical stripes and a lace pattern: vines, plant tendrils, and flowers. Cream background with sand and blue ornament; trimmed with silver galloon. Neckline at the front pieced with a different silk fabric. Red cotton lining. Liturgical vestment, length 134 cm, width 64.5 cm back., A flat piece of fabric cut in a long rectangular shape with a scooped neckline and two shoulder extensions, laid against a pale background; the fabric is primarily deep pink to rose in color with subtle darker and lighter variations, faint creases and wrinkles across its surface, and small darker spots in a few areas; along the edges there are narrow trims in a contrasting light color, and the bottom edge shows slight rounding and creasing.
