Chasuble, Mid-18th century, Poland. Liturgical vestment. Cotton lining. Length 110 cm, width 70 cm back. Decoration: floral plant ornaments—roses, carnations, daffodils, peonies, bellflowers—arranged as floral tendrils and bouquets growing from green mounds with low grass on the back column and sides; similar but more fantastical tendrils and flowers on the front. Columns trimmed with wide gold braid and narrower edge braid. Sacred art; church parament., A decorative garment front with a sleeveless, V-shaped top and a rectangular lower section, made of a pale gold-beige fabric with embroidered panels; the embroidery forms vertical and horizontal bands creating a grid of panels filled with floral motifs, including stylized blossoms, buds, and stems. The visible colors include shades of pale gold, beige, cream, soft green, light blue, muted pink, coral, brown, and touches of darker green; the background fabric is a warm beige-gold. The embroidered flowers are arranged symmetrically, with several large rounded blooms, a few smaller rosette-like flowers, and scrolling leafy stems filling the panels; borders between panels are made of textured trim in a lighter gold-beige. The fabric shows gentle wrinkles and slight sheen, and the edges of the garment are finished with narrow folded hems in the same warm beige-gold.
