Center columns of smooth velvet with sewn-on gold embroidery on a backing featuring a thick floral tendril. Trimmed with narrow silver bobbin lace. Cotton lining; neckline of red silk. Embroidery: metal thread; embroidery laid and flat on metal-thread backings gold-colored plate woven on linen yarn? held with linen yarn. Leaves, stems, and buds embroidered directly on velvet; flower chalice embroidered on a separate linen canvas backing and appliquéd. Materials include Italian fabric. Function: liturgical vestment. Dimensions: length 107 cm, width 65.5 cm back., A rectangular textile with a rounded top displayed against a light background, predominantly deep red with a vertical central panel in a similar red tone bordered by a decorative trim in a metallic gold color; the central panel features a repeating floral vine motif in metallic gold with stylized flower shapes and curving stems, and the outer sections show a subtle ribbed texture in deep red; the edges are finished with a scalloped metallic gold trim and the upper edge has a small area of pinkish fabric near the opening.
