In the divisions corresponding to the teeth, an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France. Fabric, width 17.5 cm, length 308 cm., A delicate piece of lace with a scalloped lower edge shown against a gray background, featuring a repeating ornamental pattern of curving paisley-like shapes and a central diamond-shaped motif, all rendered in a golden-beige thread on a fine open net ground; several floral and leafy elements are integrated into the design, and the embroidery displays variations in texture with denser stitches in the motifs and finer mesh in the surrounding areas, the colors visible being gold, beige, and gray.
