In the divisions corresponding to the teeth, an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France. Materials: lace, fabric. Width 17.5 cm; length 308 cm., A horizontal strip of ornate lace with a scalloped lower edge displayed against a plain background, showing a repeating embroidered pattern of curving paisley-like shapes, diamond motifs, and floral clusters; the lace has an open netted ground with denser, textured embroidery forming the decorative elements and a slightly frayed top edge with loose threads; visible colors include muted gold thread for the embroidery and a cool gray background.
