Lace fragment, lace strip finished with flat, arched teeth on one side and straight on the other. In the divisions corresponding to the teeth, an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France. Materials: lace, fabric. Dimensions: width 17.5 cm, length 308 cm., A sinuous length of lace arranged in a loose S-shape on a gray background, the lace appearing delicate and semi-transparent with scalloped edges and a repeating floral and scroll motif; the lace is primarily gold in color with variations in tone where threads cluster, and the background is a uniform muted gray.
