Lace fragment, needle-stitched lace, upper edge straight, lower edge serrated to match the motifs. The pattern of the motifs and the upper edge are emphasized by thickly sewn threads. 19th century, Europe. Height 4 cm, width 27 cm., A narrow length of intricately patterned lace in an off-white or cream color is shown laid horizontally against a flat gray background; the lace has a scalloped top edge with a repeating floral-like motif formed by openwork loops and dense embroidered areas, and a straight lower edge with a fine woven border; there are small areas of slightly darker discoloration within the lace and a small paper tag attached near one end that contrasts with white and light tones.
