Fragment of a green silk fabric with a delicate white lace report featuring a ribbon and floral sprig motif. This type of pattern with a graphic design appeared in the 1760s. The lack of gold and silver threads indicates that this fabric was intended for everyday clothing. The light green background and subtle pattern are characteristic of the fashion of the second half of the 18th century. Fabrics for dresses became lighter and their colors brighter. Colors: vert pomme apple green and vert celadon celadon green. Hem width: 0.3 cm. Density: 47 wefts, 76 warps. Date: 1760–1765. Place of origin: France. Height 56 cm, width 23 cm., A rectangular piece of frayed fabric laid against a dark background, showing a woven texture with irregular edges and some loose fibers; the fabric is primarily a muted pale green with areas of lighter and darker green shading, and it contains a repeating floral or ornamental woven pattern in pale beige and off-white tones that appears worn and partially abraded in places; there are several small tears and holes, a few areas with fuzzed or feathery threads, and a group of triangular folded fabric tabs at one corner in pale colors; overall the surface shows subtle sheen variations and patches where the weave is disturbed.
