A single-sided gingerbread mold with the image of Adam and Eve in paradise. A single-sided, rectangular mold with a representation of naked figures of Adam and Eve standing under the Tree of Knowledge bearing numerous fruits; Eve gives Adam an apple and a snake is wrapped around the tree. Gingerbread; decorative folk motifs; figurative, biblical and religious iconography. 19th century, Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Mold. Height 20.5 cm, width 13.8 cm, depth 2.5 cm., A carved wooden panel showing a relief of two human figures standing on either side of a stylized tree with a textured trunk and a canopy of leaves with round openings; the figures appear nude with carved hair and facial features, the left figure having long wavy hair and the right figure having a beard, and both holding or touching the tree; the lower section shows carved ground decoration and plant forms; the wood shows a warm brown color with darker carved recesses and a few lighter scuffs and worn edges, and the background around the panel is a neutral gray.
