Side A: soldier in parade uniform from the early 19th century—high shako with tassel, epaulettes, decorative sleeves, an order pinned to the chest, sabre with decorative tassel; geometric and plant decoration at the bottom. Side B: baby in richly decorated swaddling clothes with geometric and plant ornament. Rectangular wooden mould, engraved on the edge with the letter B initial of the maker. 19th century; Silesia Prussia; 1742–1918. Form. Height 35.3 cm; width 11.6 cm; depth 3.5 cm. Materials/technique: wood gingerbread mould; folk motifs, decorative art., unknown provenance., A tall rectangular wooden panel carved in brown wood features a stylized human figure in relief; the figure has a round face framed by a floral halo-like pattern, simple carved eyes, nose, and mouth, and a body wrapped in an intricately patterned shroud with diagonal bands of carved motifs, ending in a tied knot and a scalloped base; the background around the figure is the same brown wood, and the surrounding area beyond the panel is a muted light gray.
