One side: figure of a soldier in a parade uniform from the beginning of the 19th century, wearing a high shako decorated with a tassel, epaulettes and decorative sleeves, an order pinned on the chest, a sabre with a decorative tassel at the leg; bottom geometric and plant decoration. Other side: baby in swaddling clothes richly decorated with geometric and plant ornament. Letter engraved on the edge: B initial of the woodcarver or gingerbread maker. 19th century, Silesia Province 1742–1918. Dimensions: height 35.3 cm, width 11.6 cm, depth 3.5 cm. Materials: wood gingerbread form. Subjects: male figures, historical costumes, plant ornaments, military uniforms, folk motifs, folk customs., A tall rectangular wooden panel carved in a single brown wood tone shows a stylized standing human figure in relief wearing a detailed hat with a plume, a fitted jacket with prominent shoulder decorations and a skirt-like lower garment; the figure has carved facial features including eyes, nose, mouth, and textured hair, and holds a small object at one side while the other hand rests near the hip. The panel surface shows carved decorative motifs around the figure such as patterned borders, floral-like ornaments near the base, and vertical feathered or leaf-like textures beside the legs. The background behind the figure is the same brown wood, and the panel edges show slight wear and lighter brown highlights where the wood is worn. The surrounding area beyond the panel appears as a neutral pale gray.
