Fabric fragment, silk brocaded and broached damask, 1st quarter of the 18th century, France. Warp-covered satin ground with green warp. Broaching wefts in light and dark pink, pale and dark blue, celadon, yellow, and salmon; feature threads dark and light pink and white, captured in a weft weave. Unilateral two-color damask effect, broached with colored wefts. Lace-style motif arranged in mirror symmetrical composition: floral sprigs along a central axis and a serrated lace border with floral bouquets. Pattern width 50 cm; repeat height 48 cm, width 48 cm; edge width 0.6 cm. Fragment dimensions: height 79 cm, width 48 cm., A rectangular piece of woven fabric laid flat with a faded pink background and a subtle repeating scalloped pattern in a lighter beige tone, showing areas of wear and small holes. Scattered across the surface are embroidered or woven floral and abstract motifs in several colors including yellow, blue, red, green, and gold, with some motifs appearing as semi-circular shapes and others as small rounded flowers. The left and right edges show fraying and a narrow green strip along one short edge. The overall textile has a slightly uneven surface with visible weave texture and faint linear creases.
