Women's slippers by Wincenty Witoszynski Warsaw; shoemaker's workshop; ca. 1840–ca. 1850. Shallow, flat women's slippers made of white silk. Symmetrical soles of thin leather with straight-cut toes. Lining of the front of white canvas, the back of thin white leather. Inside an octagonal company label is glued: Wincenty Witoszynski / in Warsaw / at Senatorska Street next to the Main Town Hall No. 463. The upper part is machine-sewn. 1840–1850. Origin: Warsaw. Materials: silk, leather, canvas. Function: women's footwear. Dimensions: height 5.3 cm; width 5.3 cm; length 23.2 cm., A pair of flat, slip-on shoes placed side by side on a plain background, made of a smooth, slightly shiny fabric with a pale cream color; the toe area appears slightly rounded and the uppers show some creasing and subtle discoloration in shades of beige and faint brown; the sides and inner lining display a softer, textured cream tone with a few worn areas and frayed edges, and the thin soles are a light brown visible along the bottom edge; the background is a uniform light gray.
