Women's slippers by Wincenty Witoszynski Warsaw, shoemaker's workshop, ca. 1840–ca. 1850. Shallow, flat women's slippers made of white silk. Symmetrical soles of thin leather with straight-cut toes. Lining: front of white canvas, back of thin white leather. Inside, an octagonal company label glued in: Wincenty Witoszynski / in Warsaw / at Senatorska Street next to the Main Town Hall No. 463. Upper part machine-sewn. Date: 1840–1850. Place of origin: Warsaw. Materials/technique: silk, leather, canvas, machine-sewn. Dimensions: height 5.3 cm, width 5.3 cm, length 23.2 cm., A pair of worn shoes shown from the soles, placed side by side against a light gray background; the soles are brown with darker scuff marks and patches of wear, the shoe sides are a pale off-white or cream color, and there are a few small beige tape patches on each sole along with small rectangular labels that include a border with pale blue and white tones.
