Fabric fragment, fragments of silk patterned fabric, report composition based on two intersecting diagonal arrangements. One arrangement formed by ribbons winding wavy-like from tiny fancy leaves brocaded with silver thread, the other running opposite with forms resembling sheaves brocaded with gold thread. Satin background enriched with a miniature rhomboidal net pattern in liseré. Blue Gros de Tours background with elements of liséré. Brooch motifs: silver lamellar and gold-braided thread with a loose braid showing the silk core in natural color. Report size larger than preserved fragment. Motifs in the bizarre fabric type. Multicolored border: green, pink, and yellow threads. Late 17th century, France. Height 56 cm, width 27 cm., A torn rectangular piece of fabric with frayed edges rests against a dark background, showing a woven floral and foliage pattern; the fabric is primarily pale bluish-gray with accents of muted gold and silvery threads, and there are several large holes and ragged tears concentrated on one side revealing the dark background beneath, while the remaining surface displays repeating leaf and garland motifs and a subtle diamond-textured ground.
