Green velvet tailcoat, embroidered with motifs of field and garden flowers — roses, cornflowers, chamomiles, and bluebells. Fitted at the top, widened at the back from the waist by slit pleats. The flaps at the top, cut in a semicircle, overlap at the bust, and are cut short at the bottom. Fastened with hooks at breast level. Long sleeves, cut in a curve at elbow height, set in, and finished with cuffs. High, stand-up collar. Back cut with a center seam. The pleats are slit at the back, not overlapping in the center. Rich embroidery covers the edges of the pockets, pocket flaps, cuffs, and collar. Fabric-covered and embroidered buttons. Green sheared silk. Embroidery with twisted and untwisted silk yarn light pastel shades with a predominance of white, satin lay stitch, white satin appliqué. Lining of cream plain silk. Hand-sewn, early 19th century, Europe.
