Fragment of cordovan leather, cordovan leather, flowers, fruit, butterflies, Scheele, Stanislaw fl. ca. 1919, furniture upholstery, Seat or backrest of a chair made of embossed, painted, and gilded leather. The entire surface of the leather is filled with floral and fruit decoration. Leafy branches with small flowers and fruit, on and between which are placed small insects butterflies and flies. The background of the entire decoration is textured with a fine mesh of lines enclosed in triangles. 17th/18th century, Europe, varia. Height 32 cm, width 44 cm., A rectangular piece of patterned material with irregular torn edges, showing a dense floral and foliage design in shades of gold, brown, dark green, and muted reddish tones on a textured dark background; the surface features a repeating pattern of leaves, stylized flowers, and round fruit-like shapes, with some areas appearing worn or darker and a few places showing small holes or frayed edges.
