Habit of green silk embroidered with motifs of small bouquets of flowers. Fitted at the top, widened at the back from the waist down with two slit pleats. Fastens at the front with hooks and eyes. Semicircularly cut lapels overlap at breast level and are cut off at the bottom. High, standing collar. Long sleeves set in at elbow height, cut in an arc, finished with wide, slightly protruding cuffs. Side pockets at hip level covered with trapezoidal flaps. Back cut with a center seam. Slits at hip level. Center back flaps meet without a pleat. Embroidery runs in a wide band around the edges, cuffs, pockets, collar, and back pleats. Decorative buttons sewn in threes on the cuffs, under the pocket flaps, two at the top of the back pleats, and in the pressed pleats. 1770s, Silesia; France place of creation. Garment, length 112 cm., A side view of a long coat displayed on a black mannequin form against a pale gray background, the coat made of ribbed fabric in a medium green with embroidered floral trim in shades of pink, red, white, yellow, and green along the front edge, cuffs, pocket flaps, and lower hem, the embroidery forming clusters and garlands, with the collar and cuffs edged by similar decorative bands and the silhouette showing a slightly fitted shoulder and straight long skirt.
