Vest, floral and plant ornaments, patterned brocaded silk fabric front, predominant ornamental colors: silver, plum, green, and raspberry. Motifs arranged around the edges. Fastened with 12 buttons embroidered with gold thread. No collar. Side flaps with flapped pockets; three buttons under the flaps as closures. Back: bottom and sides of fabric match front, cut-out pieces plain without brocade. Cream silk lining. Dated 1740–1760. Origin: England fabric possibly, Silesia. Garment, length 74 cm., A sleeveless garment laid flat against a light gray background, made from a pale cream fabric with a central vertical panel of floral embroidery running from the neck to the hem, flaring into a skirt-like pointed bottom; the embroidery shows a mix of floral sprigs and leafy fronds in colors including green, purple, blue, red, and gray, with additional gray scrolling motifs on the cream areas; the armholes reveal a brown inner lining and the garment has a rounded neckline and tailored seams.
