Vest, floral and plant ornaments, patterned fabrics. Predominant ornamental colors: silver, plum, green, and raspberry. Front of brocaded silk fabric with motifs arranged around the edges. Fastened with 12 buttons embroidered with gold threads. No collar. Side flaps with flapped pockets, three buttons under the flaps as for the closure. Back: bottom and sides of fabric as on the front, but the cut-out pieces are plain without brocade. Cream silk lining. 1740–1760, England fabric possibly, Silesia. Garment, length 74 cm., A sleeveless garment laid flat on a pale gray background, made from a cream-colored fabric with a central vertical panel of floral embroidery; the embroidery features a scrolling arrangement of leaves and flowers in shades of green, purple, blue, red, and gray, with silver-gray foliage motifs woven throughout. The garment has a high rounded neckline, deep arm openings revealing a brown inner lining, and a flared skirt-like peplum at the bottom with pointed sides that continue the embroidered floral pattern. Small round covered buttons run down the center front, and the overall silhouette is fitted through the torso with decorative botanical motifs covering much of the lower portion. The visible colors are cream, brown, green, purple, blue, red, and silver-gray.
