Men's waistcoat of cream silk, embroidered. Straight cut, without a collar; trapezoidally cut hems; low-set pockets covered with flaps. Fastened to the neck with 12 covered and embroidered buttons; identical buttons under the pocket flaps. Embroidery decorates the edges at the closure, the pocket flaps, and the flaps under the pockets. Small floral garlands and tied bundles of grass. Embroidery with satin stitch. Predominant colors: yellow, green, and dark purple. Laced back, silk lining. Fabric-covered and embroidered buttons. 1780s, Europe; Silesia. Garment, length 70 cm., A sleeveless garment laid flat on a neutral grey background, made of a shiny light beige or ivory fabric with visible seams and darting, featuring a central back opening with a series of fabric loops and ties running vertically, a fitted waist that flares into pointed skirt-like extensions at the lower sides, some creases and slight wrinkles in the fabric, and a few areas where the fabric edge appears slightly frayed.
