In the center is an embroidered figure of Christ on the cross. Below the cross is a skull with crossbones. Around the edges is a wide border with a simplified twig motif with fruit or flowers. Green silk lining. Embroidery executed with silk yarn in a satin stitch on a low thread base linen and silk and metal threads plate braided on a silk core in a flat and loop laid stitch metal thread arranged in loops held by silk yarn. Embroidery with a metal plate laid flat and held in a cross-stitch manner with silk yarn and placed on a silk base and a linen string base description of the embroidery technique: E. Soszko. 16th/17th century, Poland, liturgical vestment, height 19 cm, width 21 cm., A square fabric piece shown against a neutral gray background, with the visible side made of a green woven material that has subtle vertical and horizontal weave lines and slight wrinkling and creasing; the edges reveal a thin strip of a pinkish reddish color along the top and sides, and there is a small group of pale rectangular tags attached near one lower corner; overall colors visible are green, pinkish red, pale off-white, and gray.
