A hood from a church cope. The hood of the liturgical cope is made of navy blue silk with appliquéd decoration of stylized flowers, leaves, and stars. In the lower center, beneath the bishop's hat, is a cartouche with the Odrowaz or Dolega coat of arms. Predominant colors are gold, silver, green, and brick red. The hood is trimmed with contemporary metal lace braid. The appliqué was transferred to a new fabric. 18th century, Poland. Fabrics. Height 58 cm, width 61 cm., An embroidered textile panel with a deep blue fabric background bordered by a pale gold trim and an outer fringe of metallic threads, featuring an array of ornamental floral and foliate motifs in shades of gold and muted pink set against the blue, a group of star-shaped floral forms in pale gold scattered across the surface, and a central decorative emblem with gold elements and touches of muted pink and red surrounded by symmetrical scrolling leaf and petal designs.
