Velum, revindication provenance, church vestments, embroidery, flowers, leaves, plant ornaments, sacred art, churches and chapels furnishings. Velum sewn from scarlet satin, embroidered with silk yarn and metal threads. In the center, a heart-shaped medallion features the letters IHS and a cross, with stylized floral sprigs on the sides. In the corners and along the sides are varied stylized flower bushes. The edges are trimmed with narrow gold braid. The lining is made of silk fabric brocaded with motifs of twigs and flowers and fruit growing from them on a light background. 18th century, Poland, liturgical vestment, height 49 cm, width 52 cm, A square textile with a deep red background embroidered with metallic gold thread in ornate floral and foliate motifs; a group of heart-shaped and scroll-like embroidered designs sit near the center and corners, with several stylized flowers and leaf sprays arranged symmetrically around the piece; the gold embroidery includes raised, textured stitching and is complemented by small areas of muted blue and green within some floral elements; the textile edges are finished with a narrow gold border and the fabric shows subtle horizontal striations in the red weave.
