Velum or church cloth of white linen, embroidered with silk and gold thread. In the centre is a Lamb with a labarum and a chalice, into which blood spurts from its breast. Around the edges is an elaborate plant twig with motifs of grapes and flowers. In the central field, floral motifs are featured in the corners. Embroidery with pierced silk and metal thread, with cord and satin stitches. Some metal thread embroidery elements are made on a colored silk backing. The metal thread is a silver plate woven onto a silk or linen base. E. Soszko. 16th century, Silesia. Liturgical vestment. Height 63 cm, width 70 cm., A square piece of light-colored fabric with an embroidered floral border featuring a few shades of pink and muted brown, with darker brown and black details; the central area is mostly plain with a stitched figure of an animal in dark brown and black holding a small object in one front limb and a small dark shape nearby; four clustered floral motifs with pale beige and dark brown elements sit near the corners of the central area; the wide border contains a dense arrangement of swirling vines and various stylized flowers in pink, brown, and black, with occasional beige highlights; there are some areas of wear and a rectangular patch of lighter fabric near the lower center, and the overall background is a pale off-white or cream.
