Velum;, Velum or church cloth of white linen, embroidered with silk and gold thread. In the centre is a Lamb with a labarum and a chalice, into which blood spurts from its breast. Around the edges is an elaborate plant twig with motifs of grapes and flowers; floral motifs are featured in the corners of the central field. Embroidery with pierced silk and metal thread, using cord and satin stitches; some metal thread elements are worked on colored silk backing. Metal thread is silver plate woven onto a silk or linen base. Revindication, 16th century, Silesia. Liturgical vestment. Height 63 cm, width 70 cm., A square piece of fabric laid flat with a pale off-white center and a decorative border showing floral vine motifs in pink and muted gold tones, with areas of darker grayish-black detailing; near the center a small dark gray figure resembling an animal stands against the lighter background; the border contains a repeating pattern of stylized flowers and curling stems in pink, gold, and gray, and there are several larger floral clusters in pale gold and gray set inward from the border; overall colors visible include off-white, pink, gold, gray, and a few darker gray accents.
