Cashmere shawl, purchased provenance. Fashion; women's clothing and accessory; cashmere shawl with geometric and plant ornaments. Early 19th century, Iran. Shawl with a pattern of colorful stripes with fine ornamentation: repeating color sequence of ochre, sky blue, red, white, black, red, light blue, alternating with parrot green. Sewn from two pieces: one piece has preserved workshop edges 69 cm wide, the other is narrower without a selvedge. Length 256 cm, width 132 cm., The image shows a patterned textile with many vertical striped bands in a repeating arrangement. The stripes include colors such as red, mustard yellow, pale blue, cream, black, and olive green, each containing small decorative motifs and subtle texture variations. The textile edges show a short fringe at the bottom and the overall surface has a woven appearance with slight irregularities in the stripe widths and motifs. The pattern fills the entire frame.
