Tapestry covering, creator unknown, unknown provenance; floral ornaments with wildflowers and landscapes; decorative fabric for interior furnishings, upholstery and draperies featuring flowers around the bottom. Colors: brown, tobacco, olive, pink, beige, and light blue. After the mid-18th century. Possibly Beauvais or Aubusson. Height 57 cm, width 62 cm., An oval textile fragment held by white fabric tape around its edges rests against a pale gray background; the central woven area shows a worn, fuzzy surface with visible loose fibers and fraying, displaying muted shades of tan, beige, and light brown intermingled with areas of faded green and teal, spots of dull red and pink, and touches of darker brown; a band of deeper red and maroon appears near the lower edge, and small accents of blue and pale cream are visible within the textured weave.
