Ornamental tapestry, Cut from a larger piece; in the center, a bouquet of flowers in a medallion made of acanthus leaves. Around it are similar medallions and cartouches with flowers or flower clusters in the center. No border. Colors: plum background, ornament in pink, lilac, blue, green, cream, yellow, and black. 18th/19th century, France. Fabrics; height 320 cm, width 234 cm., A large rectangular textile mounted on a beige fabric background with visible creases shows a patterned interior divided into a grid of four panels; each panel contains ornate decorative motifs in a palette of rich colors including deep maroon, bright blue, golden yellow, orange, pink, green, black, and cream. The patterned areas feature swirling acanthus-like scrolls, floral clusters, and curved shapes with layered colors and textured embroidery or pile; several flowers in shades of pink and cream sit against blue fields framed by golden-orange scrollwork, while black and dark maroon areas provide contrast. The beige mounting fabric forms wide horizontal and vertical bands that create a cross dividing the patterned panels, and the edges of the mounting show slight wear and stitched seams. The overall impression is of four matching decorative sections with intricate floral and foliate ornamentation set within a neutral beige border.
