Fabric fragment, silk, 17th century, Europe. Rep weave with weft changed in zones creating lighter wide transverse stripes; weft changed from two-colored red–cream to single-colored red. Preserved selvedge; edge width with selvedge: 0.5 cm. Height 50 cm, width 18 cm., A large rectangular piece of woven fabric in shades of deep magenta and pink laid flat against a black background, showing subtle vertical variations in hue across its surface; the fabric has slightly frayed edges on the left and right sides and a small irregular tear or pull near the top right edge, with a narrow light-colored woven border along the bottom edge; the texture of the weave is visible, and there are a few faint darker smudges or marks on the fabric.
