Depicts a horizontal battle/conquest scene: in the foreground at right a kneeling group of delegates from a defeated city; on the left a kneeling soldier points to keys held by the first delegate. On a slightly raised dais at center, surrounded by soldiers, sits the victorious commander wearing a laurel crown. In the middle foreground men on wheels hand him keys; soldiers kneel to the left. In the background an approaching army on horseback, with city walls, gardens, trees and a mountain landscape; high horizon partly obscured by trees and mountains. No border border clipped in another version. Limited, saturated palette; predominant colors green, red, sapphire, with sand and yellow. Subjects: battle scenes, figures in military costume, soldiers; function: interior decoration/ornamental fabric., The image shows an ornate woven tapestry depicting a crowded outdoor scene with many human figures in historical dress, including armor, robes, and helmets, arranged across a landscape with trees and distant buildings; the foreground features seated and standing figures with flowing garments and capes, some holding staffs or swords, while the midground and background show mounted riders, banners, tents, and groups of people in motion. Colors visible include gold, blue, red, green, beige, brown, and touches of cream and gray.
