Fragment of fabric, mid-18th century, England, silk, gros de Tours?; woven: background rep weave, pattern broché with liseré and broaching threads persienne. Pattern: twigs and bouquets in a rhomboidal network of small silver motifs; branches with grape clusters, rose buds and single flowers. Colors: white background; padding threads in light and dark pink, green, blue; delicate floral and fanciful motifs on white. Dimensions: length 38 x ?, height 21 cm, width 57 cm., A rectangular piece of light beige fabric with frayed edges lies against a dark background, showing a central vertical motif of elongated, brushlike shapes in dark brown and olive green with touches of pink and pale yellow, flanked by smaller similar motifs toward the sides; a few scattered stitched outlines in white and dark threads trace parts of the motifs, and there are a few small areas of pink, purple, and pale blue near the lower portions of some vertical shapes, along with faint creases and slight discoloration across the beige surface.
