Fragment of fabric, fabrics, fragments of silk patterned fabric, 18th-century silk fabric. Decoration: spiky, corrugated, curling leaves in gold-green-white with fanciful forms; small flowers snapdragons and larger flowers between a lily and an iris. Louis XV style. Colors: white grosgrain background with a loose weft thread complementing colorful brocade motifs; brocade: white, sky blue, ink, light grass green, celadon yellow, pale pink, pink burgundy, rusty red, orange, lemon. 18th century, France. Height 18.6 cm, width 20 cm., A square piece of worn fabric with a beige background showing a floral and vine pattern in a few colors including green, yellow, blue, red, pink, and gray. The fabric has a large curved vine with small green leaves and a scalloped grayish decorative band, clusters of small yellow flower buds on green stems, a cluster of blue petal shapes near the top edge, and a large pink and red feathery flower near the lower right. The surface shows mottled discoloration and areas of wear, frayed edges, and a folded corner revealing the reverse side with similar coloration. The piece is mounted against a black background.
