Fabric fragment, fabrics, fragments of silk patterned fabric with preserved selvedge, 18th-century silk, Louis XV/16th style. Materials: silk brocade with grosgrain weave; colors include celadon-green, light grass green, pale yellow, sky blue, blue, white, brick-red/rust, raspberry-whitened, pale pink on white and cream background with white warp stripes. Dimensions: height 14.8 cm reported, overall height 30 cm, width 20 cm. Date/place: 2nd half of the 18th century, France. Selected edge width: 0.6., A rectangular piece of fabric with frayed edges laid on a dark background, featuring a pale beige ground and a textured cream band along the top; the fabric shows areas of wear and small irregular holes. Scattered floral motifs embroidered or printed in olive green leaves with small red buds appear across the central area, and a border of larger floral clusters runs near the lower edge with flowers in dusty blue, muted rose, and faded purple accompanied by olive green foliage. There are small scattered marks and thread pulls in bluish-gray and darker navy, and a few loose threads in red and green hang from the lower edge.
