Carpet, Woolen knotted fabric, decorative tapestry, 2nd half of the 19th century, Iran. In the center are four nested hexagonal medallions. Their interiors and the remaining background are filled with motifs of flowers, lanceolate leaves, and rosettes surrounding rhombuses. Three-band border with floral motifs. Colors: several tones of red, cream background, blue ornament. Height 667 cm, width 415 cm., A patterned rug with a dominant deep red field and a border in beige and brown tones, featuring ornate floral motifs and curving vine-like shapes in shades of beige, cream, brown, black, olive green, and muted pink; a few large stylized flowers and medallion shapes appear within the red area, surrounded by smaller floral clusters and scrolling leaves, while the outer border shows repeating ornamental panels with intricate floral and arabesque designs; the rug edge is visible along the bottom with a narrow solid red band, and at the very bottom edge a small portion of a light-colored floor and part of a shoe in brown and tan can be seen.
