Antependium, Antependium of dark yellow velvet with appliquéd decoration composed of stylized palmettes and flowers in vases in the Louis XIV style. Appliqué of gold lace and fragments of gold lamé. The edges are trimmed with gold galloon. 18th/19th century, Poland. Fabric. Height 102 cm, width 222 cm., A large rectangular textile in a beige-tan color occupies the center, bordered by a pale off-white background; the fabric shows a coarse woven texture with irregularities and faint linear patterns, and there are a few small darker spots and stains scattered across its surface. Several small circular metal rings or eyelets are attached along the lower and upper edges, and a few tiny reddish-brown specks appear near the top and bottom edges. The edges of the textile are slightly uneven and have subtle color variations including pale yellow along parts of the border, and there is a small light-colored rectangular patch near one lower corner.
