Banner, propaganda banner from the November Uprising 1830–1831. Double-sided white cloth banner, painted with a red Latin cross in the center. Around the cross an inscription in Polish painted in black: IN THE NAME OF GOD FOR OUR AND YOUR FREEDOM. The reverse bears the same inscription in Cyrillic Russian. Tradition holds it was scattered among Russian troops for propaganda purposes. Dated 1831, Poland. Material: fabric. Dimensions: height 108.5 cm, width 110.5 cm., A square fabric panel with a large red cross painted in the center on a white background, with a few areas of discoloration and faint stains on the white fabric; several rows of bold black block lettering are printed around the cross above, to the sides of, and below it; the fabric has slightly frayed edges and a few small metal rings along the top edge; visible colors include red, white, black, and some brownish stains.
