Banner, propaganda banner from the November Uprising 1830–1831. Double-sided white cloth banner painted with a red cross; around the Latin cross an inscription in Polish painted in black: IN THE NAME OF GOD FOR OUR AND YOUR FREEDOM. The reverse bears an identical cross and the same inscription in Cyrillic Russian. Tradition holds it was scattered among Russian troops for propaganda purposes. Made of fabric, 1831. Height 108.5 cm, width 110.5 cm., A square fabric panel with a large red cross painted near the center, set against an off-white background; there are several black painted block letter shapes arranged above, beside, and below the cross creating a composed layout; the fabric shows slight wrinkles, faint discoloration, and small stains, with the edges appearing a bit frayed.
