One-sided pennant, creator unknown, ; pennant/vexillum depicting the White Eagle coat of arms; associated with the January Uprising 1863–1864; painted fabric, made in 1863; one-sided pennant painted on a red background showing the White Eagle with spread wings, without a crown or other attributes; textile, height 67 cm, width 51 cm. A card bears the inscription Guidon/pris ana usur-gis polonais, N? 5718/35., A painted image of a large white bird with outstretched wings set against a red background; the bird has a rounded head and curved beak, visible eyes, layered feathers on its wings and tail, and a fluffy chest. The wings are wide and textured, the tail feathers are fanned, and the bird’s feet and curved talons are visible beneath the body. The red background shows worn areas, scratches, and visible surface cracks, and the white paint of the bird displays areas of wear and slight discoloration. Colors visible include white, red, gray, and small accents of dark brown or black on the beak and talons.
