Antependium by Anna Barbara Orliec embroiderer, 1693. Antependium embroidered with colorful silks on a creamy pink satin background, details worked with metal thread; techniques include flat, split, and knotted stitches and metal-braided threads laid flat. Size: height 90 cm, width 274 cm. In the center, within a wide ribbon wreath supported by four archangels in short armor holding palm leaves, is a walled city surmounted by Mary and Child, St. Peter, and St. Paul. Kneeling before the city are a bishop bearing the Junosza coat of arms three lambs, an abbot with the Brinken coat of arms three roses behind a shield resembling crossed crosiers, and an abbess with the Nowina coat of arms. Around them are flowers, a floral tendril, and six angel heads encircling Mary. On the sides are two figures in antique-style robes holding horns filled with flowers and heraldic shields — one possibly showing the coat of arms of Kraków a city gate with an eagle, the other illegible. At the bottom are two inscriptions: ANNO 1693 and ANNA BARBARA ORLIEC/NATA PROFESSA. The border and field are filled with an overall pattern of winding leafy vines, large floral motifs, and scattered birds and angels, with ribbonlike garlands arching across the top.
