Antependium, antependium; fragment of church embroidery on cream silk satin 46 gauge, green selvedges with embroidery and glued appliqué of colorful silk threads, gold and silver threads, and sequins. In the center, a large radiant medallion bears the IHS monogram with a cross and three nails. Background filled with projections of stylized floral sprigs; small sprigs in the corners and on the sides of the medallion are embroidered, remaining background motifs are appliquéd glued. 18th century, Poland; fabric; height 82 cm, width 47 cm., A rectangular piece of fabric with a light beige background decorated with a large circular sunburst motif near the center featuring blue radiating petal shapes and a circular center with a mix of beige and gold tones and reflective sequins; surrounding the central motif are a group of floral and botanical motifs in shades of pink, muted red, green, olive, yellow, and brown arranged across the fabric; the fabric edges have a narrow green trim and faint seams; the overall palette includes beige, blue, pink, green, olive, yellow, brown, and gold.
